En la anterior entrada de estos cursos de escritura que estamos realizando en la web, hablábamos de cómo podíamos construir el conflicto narrativo atendiendo a cinco preguntas básicas. Pero claro, es probable que os surja una duda con todo esto: ¿Qué tipos de conflicto narrativo puedo utilizar para mi novela? En este artículo vamos a ver, precisamente, nueve tipos de conflicto narrativo que podrás utilizar.

A modo de recordatorio

Uno de los elementos más importantes en toda novela es el conflicto narrativo. Se suele definir el “conflicto narrativo” como la disputa de dos o más bandos por lograr un mismo objetivo o bien por impedir que el contrario lo consiga. Toda obra de ficción contiene un conflicto que necesita resolverse por parte de los personajes, de modo que forma parte de los 6 elementos básicos de la narración junto con la Historia, el Argumento, el Personaje, los Obstáculos y el Clímax.

El conflicto narrativo nos ayuda a mantener el ritmo de nuestra novela, nos guía en la obra a fin de que lleguemos a un puerto seguro (el clímax, del que ya nos ocuparemos) y debemos diseñarlo de forma que tenga un buen detonante inicial que enganche al lector (de esto nos ocuparemos en el siguiente artículo de esta serie), así como gestionar su evolución de forma correcta para que la novela sea interesante. Para conseguir esto, los personajes son cruciales, ya que serán el vehículo canalizador del conflicto. Pero, ante todo, debemos tener muy claro qué tipo de conflicto narrativo vamos a plantear ante el lector. Para ello, quiero presentaros los principales tipos de conflicto narrativo que podemos encontrar en una novela:

Tipos de conflicto narrativo: Religioso

Solemos pensar que forman parte del pasado o que pertenecen a sociedades que deben evolucionar. Pero el conflicto espiritual sigue vigente. En este tipo de fricciones, el individuo reivindica una conciencia distinta a la que predomina en su entorno y esto le hace entrar en un conflicto con él mismo y con el resto de su mundo.

Tipos de conflicto narrativo: Político

El conflicto político o ideológico tiene similitudes con el espiritual porque se refiere a las creencias y convicciones del ser humano. En él es fundamental mostrar el concepto que tiene el personaje principal del mundo en el que vive y cómo esa visión personal lo lleva a enfrentarse a él.

Tipos de conflicto narrativo: Histórico

En los conflictos narrativos de caracter histórico hay que cuidar en especial la relación entre individuo y el acontecimiento histórico en el que desarrollamos la trama, de modo que la fricción entre ambos quede clara y constituya el motor de la acción. Debemos cuidar también de no asignar a los protagonistas de nuestras historias ideas y pensamientos actuales, pues estaríamos incurriendo en anacronismos.

Tipos de conflicto narrativo: Con la Autoridad

Hay que tener cuidado con no confundir el tema del poder con el conflicto por el poder. En el primer caso ofreceríamos un mensaje, una reflexión sobre el poder; en el segundo, éste se erige como motor de la fricción y es lo que hace avanzar la trama. No tiene que ser un conflicto con la policía. Puede serlo también entre alumno y profesora, padres e hijos, empresarios y trabajadores, etc.

Tipos de conflicto narrativo: En la Esfera Privada

Tendemos a pensar que el conflicto narrativo se relaciona con aspectos muy importantes, pero a menudo las personas que nos hacen sufrir, superarnos y avanzar se encuentran en nuestro entorno inmediato. Jane Austen afirmó que «para escribir, 3 o 4 familias provincianas resultan perfectas». Así, por ejemplo, un conflicto entre dos hermanos puede dar pie a toda una novela.

Tipos de conflicto narrativo: De Género o Sexual

Este conflicto se refiere no tanto a las fricciones particulares que han sentido hombres y mujeres a lo largo de la historia si no a los conflictos generados entre ellos debido a su diferenciación de género o su inclinación sexual. Este tipo de conflicto implica una transgresión cultural, social y sexual y suele generar reacciones intensas. Aquí se incluirían, por ejemplo, conflictos relacionados con la inclinación homosexual, la transexualidad, etc.

Tipos de conflicto narrativo: Amoroso

Es el tema estrella de la literatura y hay infinidad de variantes: amor no correspondido, amores que fracasan, amores cuyo encuentro es imposible, definiciones de amor, la búsqueda del amor verdadero, amores con final agónico, otros con final feliz… El amor es uno de los ejes de la existencia del ser humano, y es normal que la literatura sea rica en conflictos sobre la necesidad de amar y ser amado.

Tipos de conflicto narrativo: Social o Cultural

A menudo ocurre que las emociones, los pensamientos y las convicciones de una persona se dan de bruces contra su entorno y en esos casos se produce una fricción que domina su existencia. Entran en este campo, por ejemplo, las luchas de clases, el intento de las clases bajas por obtener derechos que siempre han pertenecido a los gobernantes, la Iglesia o la nobleza.

Tipos de conflicto narrativo: Interior

Abarca todas las tensiones relacionadas con las fricciones autoprovocadas. A veces nos boicoteamos a nosotros mismos, nos sentimos desorientados, confusos, incómodos con nuestra forma de pensar o de manejar nuestras emociones. No parece haber ningún desencadenante externo, sino que existe un malestar interno.

Conclusión

Como decimos, el conflicto narrativo es uno de los elementos básicos de toda narración; si lo creamos potente, lograremos que el lector se interese por nuestra obra, de modo que tenemos que prestarle una especial atención a la hora de planificar nuestra novela.

Con estos nueve diferentes tipos de conflicto narrativo podrás tocar no solo diversos temas, sino incluso distintos géneros literarios: histórico, romántico, negro… La clave está en no ponerte límites, en experimentar con ellos, en trabajarlos y hacerlos tuyos para que puedas transmitir el verdadero mensaje que quieres llevar hasta el lector.
